I came up with the idea of making and selling jewelry and gifts the summer of 2003 while working in a boutique. I was ordering and merchandising other people’s jewelry and gifts and would often find myself thinking “I could make that!” As a young child I was obsessed with making things. Any type of craft project I could get my hands on I would spend hours working at finishing.
Several months later I moved to a new state and really began to toy with the idea of making jewelry. I began buying beads and I made my first coil bracelet. It was a variety of different shaped glass beads in a variety of colors. It was such a big hit with my friends that I made them bracelets too.
Soon after, Rainwater Gifts was born. The site was originally designed to sell my handcrafted jewelry, but it is slowly growing into something greater. I am in the process of designing new gift ideas. I have recently added stationery and by the end of summer 2006 will have new Christmas ornaments designed and ready to sell. I also hope to be adding many other new and exciting handcrafted gifts in the next few months.
